HI, I'M LYDIA. I LEARNED TO TRUST MY BODY WHEN EVERYONE ELSE TOLD ME NOT TO.
I'm a licensed therapist and addiction counselor (LPC, LAC) and somatic coach based in Colorado.
For 11 years, I was married to someone who convinced me that I was the problem. Every time my gut screamed that something was wrong, I was told I was overreacting, too sensitive, too much.
So I did what high-achievers do: I tried to fix myself.
I went to therapy. Couples therapy. Read all the books. Learned all the communication skills. And it helped—kind of. I got better at managing the chaos. Better at suppressing the alarm bells. Better at convincing myself everything was fine.
Until one day, when I thought things were actually going well, I felt it: a deep, gut-wrenching sensation of extreme loneliness and a vague but persistent feeling that something wasn't right.
I couldn't explain it logically. I couldn't point to a specific "problem." But my body knew.
That's when I found somatic work.
